Conventional Braces

Braces Options

At Hub City Orthodontics we utilize several different types of brackets (braces) depending on the treatment goals and patient preference. The options vary from standard metal braces (Figs 1 and 2) that can be tied in with colored or clear elastics or ceramic braces (Fig 3.) that blends in with the tooth. Some brackets are low friction, which allow for smoother space closure with less force, thus decreasing patient discomfort. When patients have a nickel allergy we can utilize either the ceramic braces or Invisalign. Dr. Timothy Wilson and Dr. Dana Kiefer can help you determine the best treatment option for you.

Appliances

Dr. Timothy Wilson and Dr. Dana Kiefer occasionally utilize various appliances in conjunction with braces, which have been clinically tested and proven to be effective. These can range from something as simple as elastic rubber bands correct your bite to more complex devices such as a Distal Jet Appliance (Fig 4.), Bite plate (Fig 5.), or a Rapid Palatal Expander (RPE; Fig 6.).
